John M. Black focuses his practice on toxic tort litigation, complex commercial litigation and appellate proceedings in state and federal courts. He also serves as Managing Partner of the Firm.

John is admitted to practice in Texas, including the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and the Houston Trial Lawyers Association.

He is an honors graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law. John is a member of the Dean's Roundtable of the University of Texas School of Law and the Chancellor's Council of the University of Texas System.

John was recognized by H Texas Magazine as one of the Top Lawyers for the People in 2005. He was also named a Texas Rising Star in 2005, 2006 and 2008. A native of Port Arthur, Texas, John is part of the third generation of lawyers in his family, is married to a trial lawyer, and practices law with his brother, Robert Black.
